Dear Families:
“No hour of life is wasted that is spent in the saddle.” -- Winston Churchill This week, we’re back in the saddle -- literally! That’s right, on Tuesday our community welcomed our friends from Special Equestrians back to our 47-acre campus, and I can safely say that all involved (of both horse and human varieties) had a wonderful time. Our students, faculty, and staff loved visiting with the horses and learning proper brushing techniques, but that’s just the beginning of this program’s impact. Working with horses helps improve focus, concentration, relationship skills, and social interactions. It also encourages our students to develop self-confidence, independence, and trust in themselves and others. We can’t wait to have these special neigh-bors back! In addition to the excitement happening outdoors, the amazing work happening in our classrooms continued this week. I have been dropping in on each class, and I am in awe of our teachers’ ability to leverage technology to teach students who are both home and on screen. They have adopted a greater focus on project-based learning, all while learning new digital tools themselves, and that is a major accomplishment. A big applause is deserved all around! Finally, a few reminders:
Thank you to everyone in our TQS community for the well wishes and love for a full recovery for the member of our community who has tested positive. The positive and loving sentiment is very much appreciated. Shine on, Alex |
