Introducing Michelle Hunter, Sassafras Program Director

Dear Families:

“Life is beautiful not because of the things we see or do. Life is beautiful because of the people we meet.” — Simon Sinek

One of the greatest parts of my job is seeing all the smiling faces that greet me each day. The TQS community is like none other, and it has become a part of me, and a part of my life story.

So when it comes to hiring new faculty and staff, I take it very seriously – because when they’re here, they become a part of our collective family, and a part of each student’s story.

That’s why I’m excited to introduce you to Michelle Hunter, our new Sassafras Program Director– she’s one of the newest members of the TQS family. Here’s a glimpse at a recent conversation we had…

Alex: Why did you get into the field of education?

Michelle: I was drawn into education as a young child playing teacher with my sisters and neighborhood friends. It was not until college that my path was solidified. I have always sought to help others and create change. I have been both teacher and student, and I consider myself a lifelong learner.

Alex: What drew you to TQS?

Michelle: From the moment I entered the building I felt a sense of certainty. I had the pleasure of meeting staff and observing classrooms. However, the greatest impact occurred during my time with the parents I was fortunate to meet. I saw in their hopes and dreams the same hopes and dreams I have for my own children. I felt a sense of comradery and unspoken understanding.

Alex: How do you envision supporting the families and students in Sassafras?

Michelle: Information, advocacy, assessment, and behavioral support are areas I have spent many years developing. I hope to provide resources for TQS families that enrich their lives. My wish is to support teachers as they deliver educational instruction to students with integrity and care, and also celebrate each child for the unique individual that they are becoming.

We’re excited to have Michelle here at TQS, so please join me in welcoming her to the family!

Shine on,

Alex
