Introducing Kristen Tabun, Career & College Counselor

Introducing Kristen Tabun, Career & College Counselor

Dear Families:

“Your life is your story, and the adventure ahead of you is the journey to fulfill your own purpose and potential.” — Kerry Washington

At TQS, we believe we are tasked with the quintessential duty of giving students the tools they need to grow their curiosity and answer new and more challenging questions every day.

Perhaps no question is as monumental to students as this: What’s next? What happens when they leave the TQS community?

I’m excited to introduce to you Kristen, our new College and Career Counselor, who is here to help each student (and their families!) not only discover their unique answer to that question, but also make the path to finding that answer easier and less stressful.

Here’s a glimpse into a recent conversation I had with Kristen:

Alex: Why did you get into the field of education?

Kristen: I got into education because I believe that all students deserve knowledgeable, engaging, and compassionate educators to help them find their unique path in the world. Much of what I have done in my own life would not have been possible without the support of amazing teachers.

Alex: What drew you to TQS?

Kristen: The Quaker School at Horsham’s clarity of mission, quality of program, and commitment to those in its community really spoke to me. Its reputation is outstanding; the school is seen as a leader in educating students with complex learning challenges.

Alex: How do you envision supporting the families and students in Upper School?

Kristen: I look forward to working individually with students and families alike to help them reflect on their TQS journeys thus far and help plan a path forward that is unique to their situation, hopes, and expectations. The decision to enter the workforce after high school or pursue postsecondary education can be very involved. There are so many factors for families and students alike to understand when exploring these options. I am excited to forge relationships and work collaboratively toward the common goal of setting students on the path of success and independence.

Welcome to the TQS family, Kristen!

Shine on,

Alex
