Changes in TQS' Business Office

Changes in TQS' Business Office

Dear Families:

“Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success.

If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.”

-Albert Schweitzer

What do you love most about your home? Perhaps it’s your decor, and how you’ve cultivated your own style over time. Maybe it’s a specific room, and how you gather there as a family. Or perhaps it’s simply the way it makes you feel when you’re safe inside with loved ones.

Whatever came to mind, my guess is that your first instinct was not to answer “our heating system” or “our roof” or “our insulation.” However, these are all critical components of a house, behind-the-scenes (or wall!) necessities that allow you to enjoy your favorite spaces.

Like your home, there are really interesting, influential, and important parts of TQS you probably know nothing about. One such component: our finance office.

Unlike the academic and clinical teams, a school’s finance office is like plumbing: you only notice it when it is broken. Lucky for TQS, ours is now working at max capacity.

I’m thrilled to announce that on July 1, 2021, Virginia “Ginnie” Cho began her role as TQS’s new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

You may not notice Ginnie’s work, yet her accuracy, communication, analysis, and empathetic decision-making affects every aspect of this organization.

Ginnie exemplifies the TQS faculty’s commitment to professional growth and our institutional commitment to excellence. She first started when the school moved into this building from the Meetinghouse in 2007. She had just graduated college and agreed to take a three-day job serving as an office assistant during the move.

After demonstrating collegiality, patience, and thoughtfulness, Ginnie was officially hired as the office assistant, later served as the school’s Business Office Assistant, became the Associate Business Officer, and this month steps into her new role as CFO.

Now in her 14th year here at TQS, Ginnie’s “temp” position has lasted 5,110 days and counting.

Ginnie says the TQS community is why she stays, and she enjoys creating deeper relationships with her colleagues. Most importantly, Ginnie says “I like what I do.”

I do not know who to congratulate more—Ginnie for her outstanding growth, or our community for attracting and retaining such an excellent CFO.

As you know, TQS is committed to continual improvement. Some changes, like our new schedule, are highly visible and noticeable. Others, like a new CFO, happen behind the scenes, yet are just as critical.

I hope you all welcome me in congratulating Ginnie on being such an important part of our school’s foundation.

Shine on,

Alex
