TQS Research & Leadership: Leading the Way in Evidence-Based Education
Alex Brosowsky

At TQS, we are always thinking about how to deepen our impact. How can we provide the very best opportunities to our students? How can we better support families? How can we ensure we’re making the most of our efforts?

Why is this so important to us? Because we know that we have the unique opportunity to help set a positive life course for the children and families we serve.

To do that, we need to remain on the leading edge of evidence-based education and help test and develop best practices for families, organizations and professionals serving students with complex challenges.

That’s why “Research & Leadership” is one of the four major components of our ambitious five-year Strategic Plan titled “Expanding Our Reach, Deepening Our Impact.”

There are three strategies we are focusing on within Research & Leadership:

#1: Translate Research into Practice

TQS’s stellar faculty is a main differentiator and sets our students up for success. We will continue to fund professional development at exceptional levels -- including conferences, “train the trainer” opportunities, and collaborations with universities and other field leaders.

#2: Develop a Research Advisory Board

To help advance applied research, we will recruit a group of national and international experts to advise us on our program and ensure that TQS remains at the forefront of evidence-based practice.

#3: Form University Partnerships

TQS is working to establish research partnerships to help develop the next generation of expert educators and clinicians. Internships, student teaching, practicums and programs will teach needed skills to new teachers and clinicians who will serve our wider community.

Progress in Partnerships

As we kick off the early stages of our Strategic Plan, we are already making great strides with forming university partnerships. Here are a few of the partnerships we’re cultivating:

Current Partnerships

  • Temple University School of Education: Human Development & Community Engagement

  • Bryn Athyn School of Education

  • Gwynedd Mercy Teacher Apprentice Program

In-Process Partnerships

  • Temple University School of Social Work and School of Public Health

  • University of Pennsylvania School of Public Health

Short-term Future Partnerships

  • OT and Speech Therapies

We also currently have four university interns learning at TQS and sharing their expertise with us: Alexis, Virginia, Elizabeth and Francesca.

As we look to the future, we hope to add more partnerships that will benefit both those we partner with and our students, families and staff. Research & Leadership will create the positive action needed to best serve our community, and we’re excited to see what these new opportunities bring to TQS.
